First Truck Load of Nitrogen

 

Located 50 miles outside of Calgary Alberta, this plant was the first liquid nitrogen plant built to service the specialized needs of coal bed methane wells in the area. This plant was built from a green field site in less than seven months and included installing specially electrical starting equipment to start its 8,000 hp recycle compressor. The total compressor capacity was in excess of 12,000 hp.  The cooling water system involved the use of hybrid cooling systems to allow dry operation in the winter months and the use of irrigation water during the summer months.
